Dear Diary,
My name is Thornz, I’m 19 and I’m from New York.

I first got into art with little small doodles and drawings but never took it seriously until I was in middle school. I was inspired by animators like TheOdd1sOut and Jaiden Animations and I started to do animations myself at that time. I got my first drawing tablet for Christmas and started from there. My early work was really silly and looking back it was really goofy. But it was a start to my journey and I’m happy that I had a supportive community to keep pushing me to do what gave me comfort and joy.
I think social media changed my art in terms of seeing what others can do with their craft. It’s inspiring to see how other artists render or stylize their work. It motivated me to push more with my art and try other methods or techniques. It essentially inspired me to practice more and be better for myself.

Having likes does mess with my mindset. However, it’s mainly with my hands on craft work and bead making that I do. I feel as though if I don’t have enough traction with my small business then I’m not doing enough, then I tend to stop posting even though I know I should keep going; it’s just really messy sometimes.
Something that sparks my creativity lately has been indie media. I've seen lots of small creators making calls for voice actors, artists and writers for their work and that inspires me to keep working on my own. I think it’s amazing when artists craft their own stories and put effort into their craft. Literally, “I’m making a story/game/animation on…” is all I need to hear and I’m sold.
If my art had a message, I’m honestly not sure but I would hope that it makes people smile or think that it’s cool and inspire them to pick up a pen, pencil or even a crochet hook maybe, and just create anything.
Until next time,
Thornz
