It all started from that "donut"... @iva.illustrator

Dear Diary,
My name is Alina, I’m 27 years old and I’m from Russia.
Starting from the top, my first ever 3D model was a "donut" from a YouTube tutorial. I remember I thought it was incredibly boring and I didn't finish modelling said donut. It was my first experience in 3D and after that I didn't touch 3D for about 2 years.
In general, I consider myself more of a 3D environment artist, because I really like to make scenes, furniture and objects. Though, my favorite thing is to add funny details, some things that give "history" to the work, so that it is not just a cafe or just a room.
In terms of software, I use only Blender 3D because I think this program offers a lot of possibilities and it is a free and accessible software. You can experiment with a wide range of tools like sculpting, animation, modelling, etc.

I think one part of 3D modelling that always takes longer than people expect is building the base composition; adjusting all the main shapes in relation to each other. It often seems like a quick process, but I actually need to create a solid foundation of shapes first, so I can edit them and add details later. Although adding details often takes a lot of time, it’s usually what people focus on, when in reality, the foundational stage is just as time consuming, if not more.
If I could model for any game, film, or universe, I would like to make locations and interiors for the realms of Harry Potter, Adventure Time, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings but in my own artistic style. If we were to create something more stylized, perhaps some cartoon based on these universes. I think it would be great, I love worlds where there is magic and unusual plants and animals, even just the buildings themselves, there’s so much room for imagination!
Until then,
Alina
